With a potential expansion of the Hacksburg facilities, one of the new rooms in the expansions has been decided to be a Podcast Recording Studio and AV Lab. This page is to assist in the design of said space.

Equipment Needed

  • Sound Proofing
    • Option 1 - Full Room - If we want to do 2-4 recording
    • Option 2 - Localization - If we want to do 1-2 recording
  • Audio Interface
    • Scarlett 18i8 (Recommended by Josh's brother who is a sound engineer)
      • Barebones - $334.95
      • Bundle - comes with 4 25-foot mic cables - 424.99
      • Bundle - Software Suite, Bundle with Audio-Technica AT2020 Microphone and Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom, Headphones, Pop Filter - $499.97
  • Mixer?
  • Headphones & Headphone Amp
  • Microphones, XLR Cables, Mic Stands/Boom Arms, Pop filters
    • NO USB MICROPHONES
  • Cameras - if we want video podcast recording

      • 1 for computer desk

Room Reservation System

Since recording/editing takes time, we will need to implement some way where members can book the room.

Suggested Phases

  • Phase 1

In Phase 1, we build a barebones recording studio with the basics - no camera for video recording

  • Phase 2

In Phase 2, we add video capabilities
