The mill is a Jet JMD-15 Mill/Drill that purchased used from the Virginia Tech auction. We are in the process of coverting it to CNC for increased functionality.
Original Specifications:
- Table Size (L x W): 7-1/2 x 23 in
- Table Travel (L x W): 6 x 14 in
- Spindle Travel: 3-1/2 in
- Spindle: 1 HP, 110-2580 RPM
- Spindle Taper: R-8

- X and Y Axes - Open loop, direct drive
- NEMA-34 stepper motors (donated)
- Generic DM860 Stepper Drivers
- HP linear DC power supply
- Arduino running GRBL control software
- NEMA-34 motor mounts]

- Still in planning, need to remove backlash from quill
